Performance Issues
Experiencing slow response times, freezing, or high resource usage? This guide helps you optimize FabriXWork performance.
Quick Fixes: Try These First
Fix 1: Close Other Applications
Free up system resources:
- Close unused browser tabs
- Quit applications you're not using
- Especially: video conferencing, other AI tools, large spreadsheets
Fix 2: Restart the Application
1. Close FabriXWork completely
2. Wait 10-15 seconds
3. Reopen and try again
Fix 3: Check Your Internet Connection
Slow network can cause delays:
- Run a speed test (speedtest.net)
- Try switching from WiFi to wired (or vice versa)
- Move closer to your WiFi router
Fix 4: Reduce File Complexity
If working with large files:
- Split large files into smaller chunks
- Work with subsets of data first
- Close other file-heavy applications
Common Performance Issues
Issue: App is Very Slow to Respond
Symptoms:
- Delay between typing and seeing text
- Slow to load conversations
- Lag when switching between agents
Possible causes:
- High CPU/memory usage
- Network latency
- Large conversation history
- System resource constraints
Solutions:
Solution 1: Check System Resources
macOS:
1. Open Activity Monitor (Applications → Utilities)
2. Check CPU and Memory tabs
3. If CPU > 80% or Memory > 80%, close other apps
Windows:
1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager
2. Check CPU and Memory usage
3. If high, end unnecessary processes
Solution 2: Clear Conversation History
Long conversations can slow down the app:
1. Start a new session with the agent
2. Archive or close old conversations
3. Keep only active sessions open
Solution 3: Reduce Concurrent Agents
- Close chat windows you're not actively using
- Limit to 2-3 active agent sessions at once
- Agents run locally and use system resources
Solution 4: Check Network Speed
- Run a speed test
- If download < 10 Mbps, try a different network
- For best performance, use wired connection
Issue: App Freezes or Becomes Unresponsive
Symptoms:
- App stops responding to clicks
- Spinning wheel or "Not Responding" message
- Have to force quit
Possible causes:
- Processing large files
- Memory exhaustion
- Software bug
- Conflicting applications
Solutions:
Solution 1: Force Quit and Restart
macOS:
1. Press Cmd+Option+Esc
2. Select FabriXWork
3. Click "Force Quit"
4. Reopen after 10 seconds
Windows:
1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc
2. Find FabriXWork in Processes
3. Right-click → End Task
4. Reopen after 10 seconds
Solution 2: Reduce File Size
If working with large files:
- Files > 50MB may cause slowdowns
- Split into smaller files if possible
- Process files one at a time
Solution 3: Clear Cache
macOS:
1. Close FabriXWork
2. Go to ~/Library/Application Support/
3. Find FabriXWork folder
4. Clear cache files (backup first if needed)
5. Restart
Windows:
1. Close FabriXWork
2. Go to %APPDATA%\FabriXWork\
3. Clear cache files
4. Restart
Solution 4: Check for Conflicts
Some applications may conflict:
- Other AI tools running simultaneously
- Heavy development environments (IDEs)
- Virtual machines
- Video rendering software
Try closing these and testing performance.
Issue: High CPU or Memory Usage
Symptoms:
- Computer fans running loudly
- System slowdown across all apps
- Battery draining quickly (laptops)
Solutions:
Solution 1: Limit Agent Complexity
Complex tasks use more resources:
- Break large tasks into smaller steps
- Process files in batches
- Allow agents time between tasks
Solution 2: Close Unused Agents
- Each active agent uses resources
- Close chat sessions you're not using
- Keep only 1-2 agents active at a time
Solution 3: Reduce Background Processes
macOS:
1. Open Activity Monitor
2. Sort by CPU or Memory
3. Quit unnecessary processes
Windows:
1. Open Task Manager
2. Sort by CPU or Memory
3. End unnecessary tasks
Solution 4: Check for Updates
Performance improvements often come in updates:
1. Go to Settings in FabriXWork
2. Check for available updates
3. Install if available
Solution 5: Upgrade Hardware (Long-term)
Minimum recommended specs:
- RAM: 16GB (8GB minimum)
- CPU: 4 cores or more
- Storage: SSD (not HDD)
- Free space: 5GB+
Issue: Slow File Operations
Symptoms:
- Takes long to read files
- File writes are delayed
- Agent says "processing" for extended time
Solutions:
Solution 1: Use SSD Storage
- HDD drives are much slower than SSD
- If possible, store working files on SSD
- External drives should be USB 3.0+ SSD
Solution 2: Reduce File Count
- Processing 100+ files at once is slow
- Batch process in groups of 10-20
- Use filters to narrow file scope
Solution 3: Optimize File Formats
Some formats process faster:
- ✅ Fast: TXT, CSV, JSON
- ⚠️ Medium: DOCX, XLSX
- ❌ Slow: Large PDFs, scanned documents
Convert to faster formats when possible.
Solution 4: Check Folder Location
- Local folders are faster than network drives
- Avoid processing files from cloud-synced folders (Dropbox, OneDrive) during sync
- Use local storage for active work
Issue: Network Timeouts
Symptoms:
- "Connection timed out" errors
- Agent responses cut off mid-way
- Login sessions drop frequently
Solutions:
Solution 1: Check Network Stability
- Run a continuous ping test:
macOS/Windows: ping -t google.com (in Terminal/Command Prompt)
- Look for packet loss or high latency
- If unstable, try different network
Solution 2: Use Wired Connection
- WiFi can be unstable
- Ethernet cable provides more reliable connection
- If WiFi is only option, move closer to router
Solution 3: Reduce Network Load
- Pause large downloads/uploads
- Ask others on network to reduce usage
- Avoid video streaming while using FabriXWork
Solution 4: Configure Firewall/Proxy
If on corporate network:
1. Contact IT to verify FabriXWork is allowed
2. Check if proxy settings are needed
3. Ensure firewall isn't blocking connections
Optimization Tips
Tip 1: Work in Sessions
Instead of one long session:
- Work in 30-60 minute focused sessions
- Close and restart between sessions
- This clears memory and improves performance
Tip 2: Batch Process Large Tasks
Instead of: "Process all 500 files at once"
Do: "Process files in batches of 25"
Batch 1: Files 1-25
Batch 2: Files 26-50
...etc.
Tip 3: Use Efficient File Formats
| Task | Recommended Format |
|---|---|
| Text data | TXT, CSV |
| Structured data | CSV, JSON |
| Documents | DOCX (not PDF for editing) |
| Spreadsheets | XLSX (avoid complex formulas) |
Tip 4: Schedule Heavy Tasks
Run resource-intensive tasks when:
- You don't need your computer for other work
- Network is less congested (early morning, late evening)
- You can let the computer focus on one task
Tip 5: Monitor System Health
Check regularly:
- Available disk space (keep 10%+ free)
- Memory usage (keep under 80%)
- CPU temperature (if monitoring tools available)
- Network speed and stability
System Requirements
Minimum Requirements
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | macOS 12+ / Windows 10 | macOS 14+ / Windows 11 |
| RAM | 8GB | 16GB or more |
| CPU | 4 cores | 8 cores |
| Storage | 2GB free | 10GB+ free on SSD |
| Network | 5 Mbps | 25+ Mbps |
